If your business is registered for GST in Australia, you need to lodge a Business Activity Statement (BAS) to report and pay GST, PAYG instalments, PAYG withholding tax, and other taxes.
Online
– Lodging online is quick and secure.
– Options include myGov, the ATO’s business website, and SBR-enabled software.
– Benefits include convenience, a possible two-week deferral, faster refunds, and error-checking.
Through a Tax or BAS Agent
– Agents can lodge, vary, and pay on your behalf.
– You can still access your BAS through Online services for business or myGov.
By Mail
– Use the pre-addressed envelope from your BAS package.
– If misplaced, send to the ATO address provided or call for a new BAS if needed.
‘Nil’ BAS
– If you have no activity to report, you can lodge a ‘nil’ BAS online or by phone using an automated service.
– How you lodge affects how you receive BAS statements.
– Online lodgments will result in electronic statements, and you will be notified by email before the due date.
