Payroll tax depends on the amount of total wages you pay every month. The tax goes to the states/territories your employees are in. If your total Australia-wide wage bill is below the respective state/territory’s threshold, you will not have to pay payroll tax.

If your Australia wage bill is more than the threshold, you will need to register for payroll tax.
